Processes Plugin for REALbasic

Overview

This plugin adds a number of useful functions to REALbasic, for gathering information on, and managing, the processes running on the system. Informaiton about a process is always returned as a RB FolderItem for the application (or extensions) file which launched the process.

You can also count the currently running processes, and bring any process to the front.

It is possible to perform all of these actions with AppleEvents. This plugin is provided simply because this way is so very much faster.

Updated Friday, February 11, 2000

This update doesn't add any new features. However, the plugin is now FAT (contains both 68K and PPC code), and avoids the problem with REALbasic 2.1b17 (and higher) that causes crashes with 68K plugins. (Even the 68K version of this plugin works now, so you can use it on any mac.)

Usage Restrictions

You may use this plugin in any REALbasic compiled application, tutorial, or documentation, public or private, including commercial software, shareware, and freeware, if you meet both of the following two requirements:

  • Give credit to Seth Dillingham or Macrobyte Resources for this plugin, or for the functions provided by this plugin, either in your application's documentation or in the application's "About Box".
  • Do not redistribute this plugin as a separate file. It may be included within any compiled application (assuming you've met the previous restriction), but never as a separate file.

Either or both of the above restrictions may be waived ONLY with written permission from Seth Dillingham or any officer of Macrobyte Resources.
